Barcelona Talent Map: Discover Where and How Our Human Capital Grows
Barcelona Activa, in collaboration with LinkedIn, has launched the Barcelona Talent Map, an interactive tool that offers a dynamic snapshot of talent in the city and its metropolitan area. Based on anonymized data from 1.8 million professional profiles, this dynamic infographic reflects how local talent is generated, developed, and circulated.
The map is structured around three key axes:
- Generation: identifying the most common educational backgrounds in professional profiles. Business Administration (7.2%), Marketing (4.8%), and Law (3.7%) lead the way. In digital skills, e-commerce (1,592 graduates in 12 months), programming (1,241), and systems administration (1,089) stand out.
- Development: analyzing the most valued and in-demand skills. Analytical skills, for example, appear in 3,957 LinkedIn job postings, followed by strategic decision-making and problem-solving.
- Attraction and retention: It measures the flow of professionals between cities and sectors, revealing key connections that strengthen the job ecosystem.
It also identifies the strategic sectors where 59% of Barcelona’s talent works: Industry 4.0 (16%), health and biotechnology (15%), creative industries (15%), and the digital economy (12%). Furthermore, it shows a steady rise in digital training and increasing participation of women in this field.
The Talent Map, updated every six months (last update February-March 2025), is a strategic tool for governments, businesses, and educational institutions: ideal for guiding policies, professional development programs, and fostering a talented and competitive urban ecosystem.
