Granada boosts technology with the Ifmif-Dones accelerator

Granada impulsa la tecnología con el acelerador Ifmif‑Dones

This scientific infrastructure places Spain at the forefront of research in nuclear fusion technology, one of the cleanest energy sources of the future.

The project transforms Granada into a hub of technological innovation. It will also have a significant economic and social impact, creating hundreds of skilled jobs in science, engineering, and materials technology.

Ifmif-Dones will allow for the testing of materials that can withstand extreme conditions. These materials will be key to future fusion reactors. The center will attract researchers and companies from around the world.

Nuclear fusion is an energy revolution. Unlike fission, it does not generate long-lived radioactive waste. Furthermore, it is virtually inexhaustible. Therefore, this investment not only benefits Granada but also propels Europe forward in the race for the energy transition.

The project reinforces the role of technology in regional development. Universities, startups, and research centers will be able to collaborate with a world-class facility, generating new long-term innovation opportunities.

In short, Ifmif-Dones is more than just science. It’s a strategic commitment. Technology thus becomes a real tool for economic and sustainable transformation in Spain.
